SANZ has a new website. It includes a database of stories, showing the extraordinary costs some people are paying to build a new home.

Small homes that pay far more than their share. Builds run to a budget broken by monopolies, through inefficient and disproportionate costs.

We are an active group of smaller developers, networking through social media and coffee catch ups. Some donate time and skill, some their stories, and others money. Together we collate information, talk to regulators, commission legal counsel, and engage private media.

That is what this network does: sharing information and holding infrastructure monopolies to account.

Together we have achieved change. Stormwater payments for standalone homes have been brought into line with attached homes. Development contributions are following the rules. Red-zoning has been exposed, and we now have capacity maps. There have been smaller wins too, such as the appropriate timing for the allocation of growth costs. There is still a long way to go, with some challenging hurdles ahead.

If you have a case for the database, now is a good time to add it.

Have a look at the new site. It is a resource with blogs and videos.
